There is a planned nyc taxi cab strike (on september 5th) in new york city. At issue is the cities proposed GPS tracking system to be put into every nyc taxi cab.
Taxi driver complaints have ranged from their fear of being tracked to potential problems the GPS might cause to their meters. The proposed $3,000-$5,000 fee they will have to pay has not been received well either.

No taxis on the streets for a few days would be nice - need to hear more about the gps to form a decision.
